Sunday 29th. A moderate to fresh and at times strong SW'ly slowly veered into the WNW on a generally cloudy day with rain in the early evening followed by showers. Flying was confined to a single winch launch off runway 24, with Toby Wilson/Bas Sonnefeld having 31 minutes in K21 KLW soaring the home bowl […] Read More...
Saturday 29th. A fresh WNW'ly provided some uncertainties about flying but, in the event, after an investigative launch by Toby Wilson/James Shaw in K21 JVZ, a further 4 winch launches were taken off runway 24. All found good lift on the main W'ly ridge, with peak operating heights around1,600' QFE, but a number of attempts […] Read More...
Friday 27th. Low cloud and rain in the morning cleared sufficiently for flying to commence around 1400 hrs, with Chris Teagle taking the 1st of the day's 6 ATs off runway 24 into a moderate W'ly, a flying list that comprised two First Flight pupils, 2 private owners, and members in a club 2 seater […] Read More...
Wednesday 25th. The passage of an active cold front left the site in an unstable, fresh/fresh to strong WNW'ly with occasional heavy rain and hail showers, so there was no flying. Thursday 26th. A transient ridge of high pressure produced good soaring conditions with a 6,000' asl cloudbase and strong thermals, but this didn't last […] Read More...
Tuesday 23rd. A moderate to fresh, and at times fresh SW'ly, gusting into the mid 30 kts as an active cold front crossed the area from early afternoon bringing 14.5 mm of rain, meant there was no flying. Read More...
Monday 23rd. A moderate SSE'ly accompanied by generally overcast skies did not provide any soaring opportunities, so the day's 11 ATs off runway 20 were either extended circuits from 2,500' QFE tows or launch failure practice. The only flight of over 30 minutes was flown by Steve Scothern in his Discus bt, his 41 minutes […] Read More...
Saturday 21st. A light to moderate SSE'ly blew all day with morning mistiness giving way to a brighter afternoon. The initial murkiness delayed the start of flying until around 1100 hrs, but thereafter, 22 ATs, a self launch and 1 Falke flight departed from runway 20, but a lack of any lift meant no flights […] Read More...
Thursday 19th. The high pressure was still in place but with a light to moderate SSE'ly blowing, a day of milky skies and limited soaring conditions meant that only 3 of the day's 15 AT's off runway 20 led to flights of over 30 minutes with none over an hour. The Flarm traces from OGN's […] Read More...
Tuesday 17th. With high pressure in charge, it was a sunny, warm day with a moderate/moderate to fresh SSW'ly, so operations were off runway 24, with landings on 20. 10 ATs were initially flown, with the last 4 launches via the winch, and a combination of wave and hill soaring produced 6 flights of over […] Read More...
