The Yorkshire Gliding Club

Gliding in Yorkshire is something special. Whether you're a trainee pilot, a gliding pundit, or a member of the public wanting to try something new, the YGC is a great place to be. We're open 364 days a year, offer full-time professional instruction and maintain a fleet of modern gliders.

If you're new to gliding, why not buy a Trial Lesson voucher? This gets you a flight in a two-seat glider with an instructor, and will give you a taste of the sport. Trial Lesson vouchers make ideal Christmas or birthday gifts.

IMPORTANT! In the interests of safety visiting pilots will be asked for logbooks and medical certificates before flying and to have a check flight if the CFI feels it is necessary. Please make sure you bring these if you wish to fly. See here for Notes for Visiting Pilots.

Most people are surprised at how little it costs to learn to glide, when compared to power-flying. Take a look at our Fees page for more information.

Our facilities are also second-to-none - our comfortable Clubhouse has a bar, restaurant and self-catering facilities. There are also bedrooms, toilets and showers for those wanting to stay with us.

We also offer gliding Courses, lasting one day or up to a week. These are designed to offer maximum training opportunities for those interested in learning to glide.

Glider pilots from other clubs are very welcome to visit us and sample our brilliant site, fleet and facilities. You're welcome to fly your own glider or ours.
