Wednesday 27th. A morning of mid level cloud led to an afternoon of increasingly blue skies as a moderate ENE/ESE'ly blew. Wind direction caused the launch point to change from initial operation off runway 02 to 20 and eventually to 06, with all three runways used for landing. A lack of lift meant it was a day of extended circuits, with flight times dependent on release height, the former ranging from 5-23 minutes and the latter from 1,100' QFE to 3,200' QFE, with Dave Campbell taking one of the day's 3 First Flight pupils for the 23 minutes in K21 JVZ. The Falke also had 3 flights, with one being a repeated touch and go exercise, one being an O/R to the airstrip at Fadmoor and the third being a visit to Rievaulx and Thirsk.
This blog describes a snippet of life at the Yorkshire Gliding Club. Why not take a flight and try it yourself, or we can teach you to fly as a full club member.
