Wednesday 12th.  Another sunny and hot day, the local maximum reaching 30.8C, led to limited soaring opportunities, with only 3 of the day's 16 ATs off runway 20 into a moderate SSE'ly leading to flights of over 30 minutes, with 2 of these over an hour.  Clive Swain in  his Kestrel 19, the only private owner to fly, had 4:01 of local flying, including a trip to Linton on Ouse, reaching 4,900' asl in blue thermals which were generally weak.  The other > an hour flight was by Dave McKinney/ Amelia Forrester in the DG500, again flying locally, while Tim Stanley had solo  43 minutes in K21 JVZ.  The day saw 7 First Flight pupils flown and a visitor, Tim Tennant in  his Discus land, having taken off from Rufforth turned North Duffield and Helmsley before landing at Sutton and then having an AT retrieve back to Rufforth later in the day. The Falke had a single flight with  Derek Smith and daughter Hannah taking it on a 306 OLC km flight to York and the Lakes and back, visiting Keswick and Penrith
