Tuesday 22nd.  Another generally sunny and warm day with the local temperature reaching 24.5C as an anticyclone brought light to moderate SSE'ly winds that slowly veered into the SW.  22 ATs were flown off runway 20 and Paul Whitehead/James Shaw took Eurofox HETY on an O/R to Fishbur, but the weak thermals that characterised the day meant no flights exceeded 30 minutes, although a few did manage to extend flight times over 20 minutes.  Visitors Graham/Sheila Morris had the longest flight of the day, 28 minutes in K21 KLW, during which they maintained 2,000'/2,200' QFE for a while, with Andreas Rieder/Sam Stinson going a little better and having a 400' climb during their 25 minute flight in the DG500 after an earlier 25 minute flight in the same glider when they maintained 1,000'/1300' QFE for a while.  The other > 20 minute flights were by Chris O'Boyle/Stephen Morgan, 25 minutes in KLW while Polly Whitehead, flying KLW solo, had 22 minutes as she slowly descended from her 2,000' tow.,

This blog describes a snippet of life at the Yorkshire Gliding Club. Why not take a flight and try it yourself, or we can teach you to fly as a full club member.
