Thursday 5th.  Low cloud delayed the start of flying until the early afternoon, the wind being a light to moderate SSE'ly before falling light from late afternoon and, late in the day, becoming N'ly.  The launch total for  the day was 14 off runway 20, comprising 10 in either K21's JVZ and KLW, 1 in Astir DPO and 3 by private owners, with Derek Smith/John Carter having a1:19 local flight in the Falke.  Local conditions did not support any soaring, so the longest flights were the 29 minutes by Chris Teagle in his LS8t-18 and Konrad Kawalec in his Discus bt, both with engine assistance.  Bob Calvert in his Discus 2ct, used his engine to progress to the Leeming area where he found some weak wave that took him to 4,900' asl.  From there Bob flew to the  Leyburn area where wave was again encountered with another slow climb as he flew  on S to the Coverdale area reaching his peak altitude of 6,300' asl.  Bob then returned to site landing after 1:47.
