Thursday 23rd. A weak cold front brought low cloud and patchy rain as the light to moderate SW backed into the SSW, so there was no flying.
Friday 24th. With the north of England under a amber wind warning due to the passage of intense storm Eowyn, flying had been previously scrubbed. In the event, after the main rain band crossed the site in the early hours, the club house roof mounted anemometer recorded a steadily increasing hourly average wind and highest gust speed until a power cut around midday meant no more readings were available The midday reading was of an hourly average wind of 30 kts and a highest gust of 50 kts. Locally, the highest recorded gusts were in the early afternoon with Topcliffe, Fylingdales and Leeming recording 56, 60 and 64 kts respectively.
