Friday 18th. Bright, early conditions soon became duller as low cloud and rain edged in from the W, the rain mainly falling in the early afternoon and then being replaced by periods of light drizzle. The weather limited flying to just 3 winch launches off runway 24 into a moderate/moderate to fresh WSW'ly that backed into the SSW, but all utilised hill lift to extend flying times to 27 to 38 minutes. Dave McKinney/Adam Dransfield-Duckworth's 38 minute flight saw them maintain 600'-800' QFE while soaring the home bowl, but with a climb to 1,200' QFE over Gormire towards the end of their flight. A similar flight profile was flown by Dave/Sam Stinson in their 36 minute flight, their late climb reaching 1,300' QFE, following an O/R to the northern end of the main W'ly ridge at High Paradise Farm. Clive Swain/Finlay Rawson flew a reciprocal profile in their 27 minute flight soaring the home bowl, climbing 600' to 1,400' QFE shortly after release and then operating at 800'-900' QFE for most of the rest of their flight., all 3 flights being in K21 JVZ.
