Sunday 6th. A light to moderate SSE'ly blew all day, with a short period of low cloud and rain late morning, which led to a break in flying of hours, giving way to a warm afternoon of sunny intervals. 16 ATs and 3 Falke flights left and returned to runway 20, with the Falke flights including an O/R to York by Polly and Paul Whitehead, with Paul later flying an O/R to Rufforth with Andy Balkwill, and doing a couple of touch and go's there. Lift was initially hard to come by with only 3 flights of over 30 minutes and none over an hour, one of which, Jamie Quartermaine's 32 minutes in his ASW 27, being a straight descent from a tow to 3,000' QFE, but late in the day some weak wave developed just to the S of the site. This was first utilised by Sarah Stubbs in K21 JVZ with one of the day's 7 First Flight pupils, as they were able to maintain their 3,300' QFE release height for over 20 minutes +/- 200'. They were followed by Sam Batchelor with the last of the day's First Flight pupils, their 50 minute flight in the DG500 including a 1,400' climb to their maximum height of 4,300' QFE as they slowly drifted from their release point 4 km SSW of site to 1,5 km SE of site.
