Tuesday 25th. The wind had become a moderate E'ly so the day's 19 ATs and I Falke flight used either runway 02 or 06 for take off and landing, the generally cloudy conditions depressing thermal activity so that only 1 flight exceeded 30 minutes and 3 more exceeded 20 minutes. The 52 minute flight by James Shaw/Roger Mallinson in K21 JVZ started with a 3,000' QFE tow followed by contact with wave some 6 km downwind of the site, resulting in a climb to 5,900' asl while flying a 10 km long beat orientated E/W. The only other flight to contact wave was that by Bob Beck/Spencer Bailey who managed a 900' climb over the site during their 21 minute flight. No one else contacted the wave, with Duncan Pask in the DG500 having the remaining 2 of the > 20 minute flights , first with Nigel Burke, their 23 minutes helped by a couple of weak thermals, and then with Bob Beck, their 26 minutes including a thermal climb of 500'.
