Thursday 23rd.. Another bright and generally cloudy day, but with sufficient breaks to provide thermal activity for local soaring and a couple of XCs, the 15 ATs off runway 02 into a light N'ly that backed into the WNW generating 6 flights of over an hour with all the rest under 30 minutes Conditions included a cloud base of up to 5,000' asl and peak average climb rates of 3-4 kts. The launch total included 7 for First Flight pupils and 3 for private owners with Rob Bailey taking the opportunity to try out his recently acquired AS33E on a 168 OLC km task with TPs at Tontine, Pocklington and Rufforth S, starting at Sutton Control Point N and a Sutton Finish. Rob's XC associate was Martin Newberry in his Ventus ct, his 139 OLC km flight taking in Market Weighton and Rufforth, while Bas Sonneveld flew his LS4 locally for 2:30. The rest of the > an hour pilots all flew club gliders, with Andreas Rieder having 2 such flights, first in K21 JVZ with George White, 1:04, and then 1:09 in K21 KLW with Steven Caroll, with Resh Khodabocus completing the list with 1:21 in Astir DPO.
