Tuesday 24th. A light to moderate NNW'ly/N'ly blew all day, morning sunshine giving way to a cloudier afternoon, with 30 minute plus flights totalling 6, of which 2 were for 2 of the day's 7 First Flight pupils with 3 exceeding an hour. Rob Bailey in his ASG29t and Tony Drury in his DG303 were 2 of the > an hour pilots, with Rob visiting Carlton Bank and Northallerton before going on to Aysgarth and returning, although an engine burn was required on the Carlton/Northallerton leg. A cloud base of 4,000' to 4.500' asl and average peak climb rates of just under 3 kts were the day's soaring conditions enjoyed by Rob, Tony and Dave McKinney/Duncan Pask in K21 JVZ who had 1:04, the latter 2 flights remaining local. This couldn't be said about the Falke that flew in from Millfield in the morning and returned there later in the day. The Tuesday evening group continued flying until 1755 hrs, resulting in a day's launch total off runway 02 of 21 launches.
