Wednesday 20th.  The moderate NNE'ly continued to bring in an overcast from the North Sea, but apart form delaying the start of flying off runway 02 for a little while, 25 ATs and a single Falke sortie were flown, albeit with a dearth of soaring opportunities, with only 1 flight getting to 30 minutes.  This was by Nigel Burke in the DG500 with one of the day's 10 First Flight pupils, a weak thermal helping them to maintain an altitude of around 3,200' asl for 10 minutes.  Similar scenarios applied to an earlier flight by Nigel in the DG500, also with a First Flight pupil, which lasted 27 minutes and one by Graham Spelman in Astir DSU which also lasted 27 minutes. The only private owner to fly was visitor Pat Fowler in his Astir CS, a tow to 2,600' QFE giving him a flight time of 21 minutes. The Falke flight saw James Shaw and Matt Oakes visit Rufforth and the Boroughbridge/Ripon areas before returning to Siutton.
