Monday 11th. A light and variable but generally SW'ly blew, with 17 ATs and 2 Falke flights from runway 20. A weak warm front provided plenty of cloud but no rain, the conditions limiting soaring flights to 5, of which 2 were over an hour. These were both flown by private owners, visitor Gareth Francis in his LS6 having 2:46 during which he flew the Pocklington, Rufforth 100 km triangle and then added on excursions west to Dishforth and east to Helmsley. , climbing to 4,100' asl and having a best averate climb rate of just over 3 kts. Pete Goodchild in his PIK20D was the other >an hour pilot with 1:32, including an O/R to Pickering, while Konrad Kawalec had the next best duration, with 35 minutes in his Discus bt. Congratulations are due to Neil Armstrong on successfully completing his XC navigation endorsement via a Sutton, York, Knaresborough, Sutton exercise in the Falke.
