Saturday 26th. A light to moderate WNW'ly blew all day, a cloudy start to the day brightening up to provide hazy sunny intervals and limited soaring conditions that meant only 3 of the day's 20 ATs off runway 24 exceeded 30 minutes and none an hour. No private owners flew and all but one launch was in one or other of the 3 club 2 seaters used on the day. The only solo flight was Sarah Nolan's 12 minutes in Astir DPO, while Clive Swain/Dexter Lamberts 46 minutes was by far the longest of the day, being sustained by some moderate local thermals, one of which gave a climb to 4,400' asl. The other 2 flights of > 30 minutes were aided by tows to 3,000' and 2,800' respectively, with some subsequent thermal soaring extending Fred Brown's flight in K21 KLW to 32 minutes with one of the day's 8 First Flight pupils and Sarah Stubbs/Gilly Guy's flight in the same glider to 33 minutes off the last flight of the day.
