Thursday 17th. A moderate SSE'ly blew all day, with 27 take offs from runway 20, one of which was for the day's only First Flight pupil and 5 for private owners. The skies remained cloudy, so lift was hard to come by and only 1 flight exceeded an hour with 3 sneaking over 30 minutes. The > an hour flight, which was mainly to the NE of site, was by Derek Taylor/Dave Latimer in an Arcus M, their best climb rate being around 3.2 kts and best altitude 3,600' asl, although I am unsure as to whether their engine was involved. The 3 other flights of > 30 minutes were by Pete Crawley in his ASH31MI, 33 minutes, Paul Whitehead/Sam Shepherd in K21 KLW with 32 minutes and Bob Calvert with the only First Flight pupil of the day, 35 minutes in KLW off the penultimate flight of the day , their best climb rates being around 1.5 kts. The Falke meanwhile, with James Shaw/Steve Kirk on board, did circuit practice via a number of touch and go's.
