Monday 10th. A light to moderate S'ly blew, slowly backing into the SSE, a sunny start soon giving way to overcast skies and showers, these being mainly in the late afternoon, stopping flying after 15 ATs off runway 20. The cloudy skies meant soaring opportunities were limited, but Rob Bailey in his ASG29t flew a 125 km XC around some self declared TPs and Boroughbridge and Snainton, surviving a low point just before teaching home. Bruce Grain/Amelia Forrester in the DG500 had 51 minutes flying locally in weak thermals, having a peak altitude of 2,800' asl, this being typical of those flying locally although Rob climbed to 3,700' asl. The only other flights to exceed 30 minutes were by Laurie Clarke/Konrad Kawalec in K21 KLW with 36 minutes, Konrad then going on to eke out 31 minutes in Astir DPO. Day member B Selliez had 4 flights with Guy Hartland totalling 1:16 minutes flying time, the first two as a Day Course pupil which he enjoyed so much he joined as a temporary member and had two more. Laurie Clarke also flew the day's two First Flight pupils while the Falke had a local sortie.
