Wednesday 29th.  A showery day did not affect operations too much with 21 ATs off runway 24, initial landings being on 20 before the light W'ly increased to moderate.  The day produced a mixture of thermal and hill lift leading to 10 flights of over 30 minutes, with 6 of these over an  hour, most of which were in the 1:03 to 1:12 range, with Bob Calvert's 5:41 by far the longest of the day.  Bob initially used thermal lift to get to Leyburn but down at 2,600' asl had a brief engine burn to contact wave and climb to 8,100' asl, further progress west being hampered by cloud and rain.  After flying to the west of Pateley Bridge, Bob returned to site and provided the following photo which shows a mixture of cloud types and orientations above the main cloud deck.  Bob reported circling and climbing under the ragged Cu looking cloud in bumpy conditions

Back at site pilots made use of the mixture of lift with visitors Jason Barton and David Hamilton in their club's Junior and Malcom Kerley/Caroline Leggett in their club Twin Astir all having > an  hour flights, while off the penulitmate and last flights of the day Malcom Kerley/Adrian Roberts in K21 JVZ and Geoff Purcell/Philip Skinner in the Twin Astir had 53 minutes.   Club members with over an hour to add to their log books included Guy Hartland/Chris Danilewicz and Clive Swain/Neil Amos, with John Carter/Steve Codd having 53 minutes late on in the day.  Most of the above pilots stayed local with the occasional trip to Boltby, hill lift predominating as the afternoon rolled on.
