Wednesday 27th. Developing storm Conell passed across the south of the UK with the result that the weather at site was initially sunny but soon clouded in with rain in the afternoon, the wind being a light to moderate NNW'ly. The low cloud and rain meant there was no flying.
Thursday 28th. A transient ridge of High Pressure brought a day of sunny, if increasingly hazy skies, and a cold, light SSE'ly wind that slowly increased to moderate. Flying commenced around 1130 hrs and concluded around 1400 hrs, 9 ATs off runway 20 and 3 Falke flights being the day's total. In the absence of any useable lift, durations were a function of release height with Simon Altman/Roger Taylor's 26 minutes from a 3,000' tow being the longest of the day and Guy Hartland/Nigel Burke's 3 minutes off a simulated launch failure at 500' QFE, that resulted in a landing on runway 24, being the shortest. The day's 4 First Flight pupils had durations of 22-20 minutes off 2,500' tows with Nigel and Simon sharing P1 duties. The Falke's 3 flights comprised two of touch and go landings and an O/R to Boroughbridge.
