Wednesday 25th. A bright start to the day soon faded as increasing cloud led to a total overcast by the middle of the afternoon, the light SE'ly slowly increasing to become light to moderate. 15 ATs were flown off runway 20, including 4 for First Flight pupils and 2 for private owners, the latter being Steve Thompson in his Ventus 2bt and Albert and Martin Newberry in their DG1000t. Steve's 1:44 flight included a couple of forays to near Boroughbridge and Easingwold and was conducted between 2,800' asl and a couple of low saves in the day's weak thermals. Albert & Martin's 1 hour flight was also flow locally, with a peak altitude of 3,600', although their poor Flarm trace suggested they had had to resort to an engine burn. No one else managed over 30 minutes, although the period between midday and 1330 hrs generated sufficient lift to allow Clive Swain and Fred Brown, both flying First Flight pupils to have 29 and 26 minutes respectively without getting above their 2,500' release heights, with visitors Graham/Sheila Morris owing something of their 24 minutes in K21 JVZ to a 3,000' tow.
Thursday 26th. A low pressure system slowly advancing from the S brought of day of low cloud, heavy rain, with 40 mm falling over the day, and an light to moderate ENE'ly that strengthened over the day and backed to become a moderate to fresh NNE'ly. Unsurprisingly, there was no flying.
Friday 27th. The departing depression produced more rain and low cloud in the morning, this easing to occasional showers in the afternoon as the skies brightened, but the initially moderate to fresh NNW'ly and later moderate NW'ly winds proved to be the main impediment to flying.
