Wednesday 24th.  The wind had become a light to moderate ESE'ly so the day's 20 launches were off runway 02, including 3 self launches.  A soaring window from midday to mid afternoon, with cloud base rising to over 4,000' asl and average peak climb rates around 3,5 kts, led to 6 flights ranging from 55 minutes to 2:40, with Andrew Watson/Neil Amos in K21 JVZ  having 55 minutes off the day's first soaring flight and visitor Graham Morris  in his ASW27 having the 2:40.  The other soaring pilots were Derek Taylor in his ASW 22, 1:00, Peter Crawley in  his ASH 31M, 1:57, Rob Bailey in his ASW 29t, 1:41 and Neil Paveley in Astir DPO, 1:15.  Nobody went too far, with Graham going mainly east but never more than 20 km away from site, Derek doing a O/R just to the NW of Rufforth, and Rob visiting Carlton Bank and the Churchhouses area while Peter is invisible as far as Flarm is concerned.  Nobody else flew for more than 24 minutes, with the day's 6 Flight Pupils averaging around 23 minutes off 3,000' QFE tows.
