Wednesday 11th.  A southeasterly travelling, weak cold front brought a lot of cloud and a few drops of rain during the day, but didn't prevent 23 ATs being flown off runway 20 into a light to  moderate S'ly wind.  The cloud base didn't restrict flying but its cover and thickness did adversely affect any chance of soaring, so it was a day of extended circuits, with the majority of the flights from the start until the early afternoon having durations of 15-23 minutes.  A notable exception in this period was Paul Whitehead and Stuart Heaton's flight in the DG1000 which lasted 29 minutes.  By mid  afternoon, with the front departed to the SE, skies brightened with the break up of the cloud and flight times extended, Jude Kirby having 29 minutes solo in the DG500, before Paul and Polly Whitehead had 32 minutes in K21 KLW.  However, off the penultimate flight of the day, Bruce Grain and J Richardson in the DG1000 found some weak wave and returned to site after 43 minutes having climbed to 5,400' asl, the best of the day.
