Wednesday 10th.  Storm Bram slowly departed to the NE, leaving the site in a WSW'ly that slowly moderated from moderate to fresh to moderate, resulting in a winching day off runway 24 at Sutton with 17 launches.  It was mainly a hill soaring day, with the main W'ly ridge flown with excursions further N to Black Hambleton and Over Silton.  Most pilots also benefitted from some weak wave, with moderate climbs over Lake Gormire, the most favoured spot.  There were 14 flights of over 30 minutes, with 3 over an hour, the remaining flights being of 28 or 29 minutes.  The first of the > an hour flights was by Martin Newbery in the Discus, his 1:04 including a slow climb to 3,700' asl over Gormire followed by an O/R to High Paradise Farm along the main W'ly ridge.  He was followed by Clive Swain/visitor Mike Bekin who, in the DG1000, initially climbed to 2,400' asl over Gormire, descended to 1,700' asl while flying the main W'ly ridge, climbed again to 2,600' asl over Gormire and then flew an O/R to Black Hambleton landing after 1:04.  The final > an hour flight was by Ian McFarlane/Ryan Parker, their 1:08 in K21 JVZ being flown via multiple O/Rs along the southern half of the W'ly ridge at 1,700'-2,200' asl.  Dean Crosby in the Discus and Clive Swain/visitor Chara in the DG1000 both had 56 minutes,  finding moderate climbs over Gormire to 2,500' asl with Dean then flying the W'ly ridge and Clive/Chara going off to around 3 km to the SW of site and climbing there to 3,500' asl.  The flight to Over Silton was by James Shaw/visitor Peter Zhang in the DG1000, their 47 minute flight comprising an outward journey  via the W'ly ridge and their return via the Forward Ridge.
