Tuesday 1st.   The day started bright and sunny with a moderate W'ly blowing so it was out with the winch, the first launch off runway 24 by Bruce Grain and Tony Kirby being at around 1030 hrs.  During their 38 minute flight in K21 JVZ, Dave McKinney, assisted by George Rowden, unwrapped the windsock from its pole.  Laurie Clarke was next to fly, taking JVZ solo for a 24 minute flight and reporting rough conditions on the ridge.  George Rowden then took the DG500 solo for a 1:02 flight finding strong thermal activity that was very broken below 1500' QFE, but more consistent above this level, eventually climbing to cloud base at around 2,700' QFE.  Bruce and Andy Evans in JVZ climbed to 1400' QFE during their 31 minute flight, while Bruce and Dominic Hammond in JVZ had 42 minutes of ridge soaring.  Bruce and Dominic's launch coincided with an increase in wind speed to moderate to fresh, with a veer in direction to WNW'ly, with the wind at flying  height being NW'ly and 40+ kts.  Bill Payton, flying the DG500 solo, took the last launch of the day and had 40 minutes before observing the gliders being hangared and landed as the wind continued to increase to fresh, bringing flying to an end for the day.
