Tuesday 16th. The wind had become a moderate to fresh and gusty N'ly, the initially clear blue skies spawning some isolated showers in the afternoon and while the conditions were not amenable to flying for most of the day, the moderating wind allowed flying to commence around 1640 hrs and continue into the evening as the Tuesday evening group took over operations. In all, 11 ATs were flown off runway 20 but a lack of any significant lift meant that all but one of the flights resulted in extended circuits with flight times averaging around 15 minutes from ATs to between 2,000 & 2,500' QFE. The exception was the flight by visitor Andy Davey in his Std Libelle who. off a 4,000' tow. landed back after 36 minutes having found some weak lift that led to a slow descent and even a 100' climb at one point.
