Thursday 5th.  A light to moderate S'ly slowly veered into the SW, bringing a cloudy day with light rain at times,  with flying restricted to 3 flights in a 1 hour period in the early afternoon, one by Malcolm Guard in his Astir CS and  the other 2 in K21 JVZ.  In spite of 3,000' tows, flights  were of the extended circuit variety, durations being  20-23 minutes.

Friday 6th.  A light WNW'ly soon backed into the WSW and increased to moderate, morning rain giving way to a day of sunny intervals, with the start of flying being delayed until 1130 hrs.  Thereafter, 20 ATs and a single Falke flight left runway 24 resulting in 14 flights over 30 minutes with 12 over an hour.  Cloud base rose to around 5,000' asl with average peak thermal strengths around 2-4 kts, but around 5.4 kts for those undertaking cloud climbs.  Nobody went too far from site, with areas around Ripon, Masham, Leyburn, Pateley Bridge Northallerton and Tontine visited and  XC distances being from 100 km to 170 km and Paul/Polly Whitehead doing an O/R to Dishforth in K21 KLW during their 1:06 flight.    A number of pilots undertook cloud climbs, Malcolm Guard in  his Astir CS getting to 8,600' asl, Bob Calvert in his Discus 2ct getting to 9,500' asl and Fred Brown in  his Ventus 2ct to 9,600' asl.   Neil Paverley in his Nimbus 2 and Clive Swain in his Kestrel 19 each had over 4 hrs flying with Yurii Koxheurov having over 3:32 in his PIK 20D and Martin Newbery 2:47 in his Ventus 2ct.  Andreas Rieder shared 3  > an hour flights, one with Steve Morgan and 2  with Colin Troise in either the DG500 or K21 JVZ, while Paul Whitehead had a another > an hour flight, this time with Mark James in KLW.
