Thursday 3rd. The departing depression left the site in a cloudy, light to moderate NNW/N'ly flow, this decreasing to light towards the end of the flying day. 11 ATs were flown off runway 02, including 4 for First Flight pupils, but the conditions meant that there was only one flight of over an hour and two of 25 minutes or more with the Falke contributing 3 flights where launch failures and field landings were practiced. The one > an hour flight was by Bob Calvert in his Discus 2ct, his 2:21 being flown locally with a best altitude of around 4,200' asl, with most of the flight flown between 2,300' and 3,600' using weak thermals. Guy Hartland/Naomi Kennard in K21 KLW had 30 minutes climbing around 450' in a weak thermal, while Arthur Docherty and one of the day's First Flight pupils had 25 minutes ,also courtesy of a brief climb in a weak thermal.
