Thursday 20th.  There had been little change in the synoptic situation except for a reduction in the pressure gradient, so it was again a sunny, warm day at site with a light SE'ly blowing.  The day's 4 ATs, one of which was for a First Flight pupil, and a single Falke sortie used runway 20 for both take off and landing, Clive Swain taking the Falke on a trip around Guisborough West and Pickering, landing back at site after a couple of touch and go circuits.   A lack of much lift meant limited flight times for most, but Bruce Grain/Poly Whitehead in K21 KLW managed 33 minutes, making use of a couple of weak thermals over  the site.  Bob Calvert in his Discus 2ct used his engine after launch to proceed NE'wards where a couple of heather fires provided somewhat smoky lift, enabling Bob to climb to 4,200' asl and extend his flight to just over 2 hours, while doing an O/R to the area around  Captain Cook's Monument, some 28 km from site before returning to soar locally for a while.  A photo of  the obliging heather fires is shown below.
