Thursday 11th. The light NNW'ly wind continued to bring in a low overcast, so there was no flying.
Friday 12th. With little change in the synoptic situation, if was again a non-flying day due to the low cloud brought in on the continuing light NNW'ly wind.
Saturday 13th. Sunday 13th. The low overcast of the previous days had completely cleared and bright sunny skies opened the day, as the L&V wind slowly settled into the WNW, remaining light. Although cloud amounts steadily increased as the day progressed, 19 ATs were flown off runway 24, the light winds resulting in runways 24, 20 and even 06 being used to land. 4 First Flight Pupils were flown plus a returning one, with 3 of the club's 2 seaters , 3 of its 4 single seaters and even a private owner launch, Andy Wilson taking his Skylark 4 for a 29 minute flight, the best of the day. Four other flights exceeded 20 minutes, most by using some weak hill lift on the Main Bowl that led to reduced sink rates. The four flights included two in the DG500 by P2 Daniel McClean, first with Fred Brown (23 minutes) that included a tow out to the East Coast Main Line and then with Bruce Grain (25 minutes). The remaining two >20 minute flights saw Steve Thompson have 23 minutes in Astir DSU and Fred Brown and one of the day's First Flight pupils have 21 minutes in K21 JVZ. The two Discus flights of the day both resulted in 20 minute flights for pilots Darren Lodge and Sarah Stubbs. Dan McClean had one more flight, this time with Toby Wilson in JVZ off the last flight of the day and completed his Bronze General Flying Test, so congratulations Dan on being the first Member to go on the 2024 Achievement board.
