Sunday 7th. The anticyclone continued to intensify with the light NNW'ly wind bringing in an overcast that limited AT heights to around 2,000' QFE at best. 10 ATs were flown off runway 02, with both K21s and Astir DPO flown but there was no lift, resulting in flight times being in the range 11-16 minutes. The Falke had 3 sorties doing circuit training.
Monday 8th. The wind had veered to become a light to moderate ENE'ly but the solid overcast remained, albeit slight higher at times compared to Sunday. 16 ATs were flown off runway 02 with again both K21's and Astir DPO utilised. As with Monday, lift was hard to find, but Nigel Burke, flying the only First Flight pupil of the day found a couple of weak thermals that extended their flight to 24 minutes, the best of the day (and year so far), with the 20 minutes by Paul and Polly Whitehead in K21 KLW being the next longest. while Neil Paveley had the longest flight in Astir DPO, 18 minutes off the last flight of the day. The Falke was busy with 4 sorties. one of which included a trip to Kirbymoorside.
