Sunday 5th. A light and variable wind varying between WSW and NE and a high overcast, led to a day of circuits, all off runway 24, with landings on any of runways 24, 20 or 02 , 14 ATs being flown. Most of the pilots elected to take 1000' to 1500' tows, and, with no useable lift, flight times averaged around 10 minutes. The day's 3 First Flight pupils each got 20 minutes of higher tows, while off the last two flights of the day, Chris Booker, solo in K21 KLW and Polly Whitehead, solo in K21 JVZ, each eked out 23 minutes. Chris, in company with Steve Thompson had earlier had a tow to 400' QFE and landed at Bagby returning to site later after an AT retrieve, to liven up an otherwise quiet gliding day at Sutton.
