Sunday 4th.  A light to moderate WNW'ly and sunny skies opened the day, the wind slowly backing into the W.  Flying commenced around 1130 hrs, but with a limited demand, ended around 1600 hrs, with 6 of the 8 ATs off runway 24 being for First Flight pupils.  Consequently, while their flight times were from 20 to 33 minutes, the 2 members who flew, James Horton with Bruce Grain in K21 KLW and Toby Wilson/Adam Sayer who shared a flight in K21 JVZ, both had soaring flights.  Bruce and James' 41 minutes was mainly spent hill soaring the main bowl at 6-800' QFE, the hill lift being boosted by thermals.  Toby/Adam's flight of 1:07,  was similarly flown, although they  managed to hill soar at 9-1,000' QFE and connect with a thermal that took them to 3,300' asl.  The other soaring flight of the day was the 33 minutes flown by Sarah Stubbs in KLW with the last of the day's First Flight pupils, the result of finding and using 4 weak thermals.
