Sunday 30th.  Saturday's departing low pressure left the site with sunny skies and a light to moderate W'ly that backed into the SW over the flying day. A airfield inspection determined it was fit for flying and 22 ATs were flown of runway 24 with the Falke having 3 flights.  Some weak wave  a km or two upwind of the site and also to  the NW between Sutton Village and Boltby and between Knayton and Thimbleby enabled a few pilots to soar, with 6 flights over 30 minutes and 2 of these over an hour.  Fred Brown/Matthew Hill in K21 JVZ were the first to contact the wave, maintaining 2,200- 2,600' asl just in front of the home bowl during their 21 minute flight, while John Forrester and one of the day's 8 First Flight pupils had 33 minutes during which they operated between 3,100-3,600' asl after a launch to 3,000' QFE.  Rob Bailey, flying the Discus, was the first to  have over an  hour, his 1:09 including a 200' climb after release followed by a descent to 1,900' asl and then another climb back to 2,700' asl over Gormire.  Dave McKinney/Martin Joyce in the DG1000 had the longest and highest flight of the day, their 1:10 including a climb to 5,500' asl between Knayton and Thimbleby and a visit to 3 km to the ENE of Northallerton before a return to site.
