Saturday 9th to Wednesday 13th December 2023

Saturday 9th.   A non-flying day as an active front crossed the country bringing 18 mm of rain, its following strong WSW'ly winds gusting to almost 50 kts.  It was much more jolly inside the clubhouse as a  well attended Christmas party was held.

Sunday 10th.  Another wet day with 9.2 mm of rain and the airfield in cloud as a light to moderate SSW'ly blew, so there was no flying.  Another well attended event, a Christmas wreath making workshop, was held in the clubhouse.

Monday 11th.  A brief interlude from the rain as sunny skies prevailed for most of the day and a light WNW'ly blew.  However, the airfield had not recovered from the last two days of rain so there was no flying.

Tuesday 12th.  Monday's sunny interlude was certainly brief, as another Atlantic low made its presence felt as it tracked across the UK bringing low cloud and 7.9 mm of rain to site.  The light to moderate ESE'ly wind slowly decreased to and backed into the ENE as the run of non-flying days continued.

Wednesday 13th.  Pressure at last started to rise as the Azores high slowly extended north-eastwards. However, the moderate NNE'ly flow brought in a number of showers and although these tended to fade as the wind backed into the NNW and decreased to light to moderate, the weather conditions, plus the state of the airfield, ruled out any flying.
