Saturday 17th to Monday 19th December 2022

Saturday 17th.  A moderate to fresh WSW/SW'ly blew all day, accompanied by a low overcast that prevented any flying, the temperature struggling to a maximum of 3.2C.

Sunday 18th.    A forecast of snow and freezing rain as an Atlantic depression approached led to an early decision to scrub operations.  The snow/freezing rain arrived in the afternoon and continued into the early evening as a gusty, moderate to fresh SE'ly wind blew.

Monday 19th.  The depression led to more rain overnight and for most of the afternoon/early evening, as the Arctic Maritime air of the last couple of weeks was replaced by Tropical maritime air, the daytime maximum temperature reaching 13.2C at Leeds/Bradford airport.  The rain, accompanying low cloud and a gusty strengthening SSE'ly that became a fresh to strong SW'ly meant there was no flying.
