Saturday 16th. A light to moderate ENE'ly brought in extensive cloud from the North Sea which didn't break up until early evening, its base being low enough to restrict release heights for the first part of the day. 20 ATs and a single Falke flight were the day's flying total, the overcast meaning that nobody flying K21s was able to extend their flight beyond 30 minutes with the Falke having 51 minutes with an O/R to Pocklington. The closest anyone flying a K21 reached was the 27 minutes of the first flight of the day, with Bob Calvert flying one of the day's 7 First Flight pupils in K21 JVZ, the extended time being the result of finding a weak thermal which produced a climb of 500' that took 10 minutes. This was followed by Chris Collingham's 24 minutes with another First Flight pupil in the same glider in mid afternoon, a 300' climb being its main feature.
