Monday 22nd.  With high pressure over the UK, a sunny day with exceptional visibility resulted,  scattered, shallow Cumulus forming, principally over higher ground, as the NNW'ly wind slowly increased from light to moderate.  18 ATs were flown off runway 24, leading to 6 flights of over 30 minutes including 3 over an hour, 2 of these by the 2 private owners who rigged, taking advantage of a cloud base approaching 5,000' asl and best climb rates of around 3 kts.  Following an engine burn 10 minutes after launch, Steve Thompson flew his Ventus 2bt into the Yorkshire Dales, passing near to Grimwith Reservoir, Aysgarth and Leyburn before returning to Sutton, an OLC distance of 158 km, while Rob Bailey in his ASG 29t stayed mainly local but had an excursion to the north of Northallerton and to the SE of Boroughbridge to cover 110 OL.C km.  The day also saw the visit of a film crew from ITV who flew twice in K21 KLW with John Carter to produce material for a forthcoming TV show, both flights towing to 4,000' QFE, resulting in durations of 41 and 33 minutes.  Of the other three > or = 30 minute flights, two  were for First Flight pupils out of the 6 on the day, while Andrew Watson/Szymon Wolski had 31 minutes in K21 JVZ off the day's penultimate flight.
