Monday 1st. A moderate SSE'ly blew to start, but later veered into the SW, resulting in a runway change from 20 to 24 around 1600 hrs. 13 ATs was the day's launch total and with generally cloudy skies, soaring flights of > 30 minutes were limited to 3, with Bob Calvert in his Discus 2ct having the only flight of over an hour. Bob used his engine twice as he went hunting for wave near Ripon but, not finding any, returned to thermal soar locally in the <2 kt thermals, climbing to 3,700' asl and landing after 2:38. The next longest flight was by Andreas Rieder/Andrew Bedford in the DG500, this lasting 44 minutes. An initial climb of 300' from release in weak wave was not sustained and the rest of the flight was conducted soaring the White Horse and adjacent S'ly ridges in what looked to be wave enhanced ridge lift, slowly descending from 1,900' before landing.
