Friday 9th. A light to moderate W'ly blew all day under sunny skies and as a result, 19 ATs were flown off runway 24 behind the Eurofox. However, no significant lift was found and only 2 flights extended to or beyond 20 minutes, 21 minutes being the duration of Jesper Mjels' flight with one of the day's 2 First Flight pupils in K21 JVZ, with Arthur Docherty having 20 minutes with the other First Flight pupil, again in JVZ, both the result of high tows. At the other end of the scale, Toby Wilson with Cambridge University student Mr Lattuada, had 5 minutes following a release at around 600' QFE, with a resultant landing on runway 20, one of only 2 flights to do so. 17 of the day's launches were in either YGC's K21 or the Cambridge University's Perkoz, with the balance being 2 flights in Astir DPO by first, Steve Thompson and later, Andy Tyas. The final flight of the day saw Paul and Polly Whitehead in JVZ do a hangar landing on runway 06.
