Friday 5th An approaching cold front meant it was a day of increasing cloud, with rain arriving late afternoon, but not before there had been 8 launches off runway 24, 6 ATs in the morning  and 2 winch launches in the mid afternoon, all into  a moderate SW'ly.  Although there was lift on the ridge, the combination of 4 First Flight pupils and 3 low tows meant there was only 1 flight over 30 minutes and that was for a First Flight pupil with John Forrester as P1 in K21 KLW, as they maintained 1,100' to 1,500' QFE on the home bowl.  James Shaw with 2 more of the First Flight pupils also soared the home bowl for 23 minutes in the DG500 off the last AT of the day and for 21 minutes in KLW off the first of the day's 2 winch launches, the last winch launch being a weather check by Andreas Rieder/Henry Jiang in the DG500.
