Sunday 5th.  The light to moderate/ moderate, W/WSW'ly continued to blow, but now accompanied by predominately cloudy skies, which did, however, provide lift with hill, thermal and some wave utilised by the 12 ATs off runway 24.  1 private owner and 5 First Flight pupils made up half the launch total, with 6 flights of over 30 minutes and 2 of these over an hour, these predominately using hill and thermal lift, but weak wave lift enabling 2 flight to climb above 5,000' asl.  Toby Wilson in  his Std Cirrus had the longest flight of the day, 2:29, the first 1:20 of which was flown locally in thermal and hill lift before contacting weak wave over Lake Gormire and climbing to 4,100' asl.  From there Toby flew to the NE of Northallerton where he spent time at 3,400' to 4,100' asl before returning to site.  Others to contact the wave included Sam Batchelor in K21 JVZ, who took a guest to 4,700'asl in the Thirsk/Bagby area via a slow climb, Sarah Stubbs/Chara Triantafyllidou, 5,700' asl over Thirsk and then 5,100' asl over the forward ridge to record a 1:32 flight time, and finally, James Shaw/Thomas Robinson in the DG1000, reaching 5,700' asl over Cowesby before extending their flight to 9 km to the NE of Northallerton and landing back after 59 minutes.  The latter 3 flights all contacted the wave in the Thirsk/Bagby area, while the day's flying list also included 3 Falke flights.
