Sunday 22nd. A moderate to fresh W'ly slowly moderated over the day but provided good hill and some wave soaring on a day when 36 winch launches were flown off runway 24 and all the available club two and single seater fleet were flown. 23 of the day's flights equalled or exceeded 30 minutes, with 4 exceeding an hour, the longest being the 4:50 flown by Sarah Nolan in Astir DPO. Sarah spent most of her time at between 900' and 1,900' QFE hill soaring the main W'ly ridge, but towards the end of her flight, climbed to 4,200' asl over the home bowl. Chris Barrott, also in DPO, had earlier climbed to 6,200' asl, the best of the day, via steady climb just to the north of site in his 1:20 flight, but no other pilots exceeded 4,000' asl, with Clive Swain getting closest, with a maximum of 3,700' asl from a progressive series of climbs and exploration of the main W'ly ridge, the Forward, Kepwick and Thimbleby ridges in his 59 minute flight. Other > an hour pilots were Charlie Brooker in Astir DSU, with 2:16 and Toby Wilson/Ryan Parker in the DG1000 with 1:12. while those with 50+ minutes to add to their log books included Discus pilots Dean Crosby, 56 minutes, Sam Batchelor, 54 minutes and Adam Sayer, 50 minutes while Clive Swain/Jacob Gray had 51 minutes in the DG1000 with best heights of 1,500' to 2,100' QFE.
