Tuesday 17th. A sunny start to the day saw high cloud steadily increase, the moderate to fresh NNW wind delaying the start of flying until around midday, the wind veering into the N and decreasing to light by the end of the flying day. 12 ATs were flown off runway 02, but, with only some early, weak thermal activity and a significant number of 1,000' to 1,500' tows, flight times were generally below 20 minutes. Derek Smith/visitor Chris Barrutt in K21 KLW found a thermal that helped them maintain 800' QFE for a while in their 15 minute flight from a 1,500' tow, but Nigel Burke/Guy Hartland in K21 JVZ found a stronger one that resulted in a climb from 2,000' to 2,600' asl during their flight of 20 minutes.
