Friday 13th to Sunday 15th February 2026

Friday 13th. A weak front travelling southwards brought low cloud and rain from 0200-0900hrs, the clearance, heralding in a much colder airmass, not arriving until early evening, so there was no flying.
Saturday 14th. A day of sunny, blue skies to start with increasing high cover as the day progressed, and a light to moderate WSW'ly wind saw flying commence around 1000 hrs off runway 20 and conclude at 1617 hrs with 31 ATs flown. A lack of lift meant it was a day of gradual descent, but 8 flights managed 20 minutes or more, usually aided by tows to 3,000' QFE. John Carter/Steve Scothern in the DG1000 had the longest flight of the day 26 minutes, having previously having 23 minutes in the same glider off the same, 3,000' release height. 23 minutes was also the duration of Yuri Kozhevrov and Steve Thompson, both in Astir FSH from 3,000' tows, while Andreas Rieder/Sam Batchelor's 21 minutes in K21 JVZ was from a 1,500' tow.
Sunday 15th. Saturday's sunny skies had disappeared, so there was no flying, as an active front made slow progress across the UK. The moderate SSE'ly brought in low cloud and rain from 0900 to 1700 hrs, the wind becoming light and WSW'ly as the front cleared in the early evening.
