Sunday 13th.  After a sunny start the day clouded in as the Azores anticyclone started to give way to low pressure from the Atlantic.  A light to moderate N'ly slowly backed into the ESE with the day's 17 launches off runway 02 producing 4 flights of over 30 minutes with 2 of these over an  hour.  Both of the > an hour flights were by private owners, with Adam Sayer in his ASW 19 having around 2 hrs as he soared locally using moderate strength thermals which took him to his maximum altitude of 5,400' asl.  Les Rayment was the other > an hour pilot, having around 1:30, his exploration to the south of the site coming to a halt at Linton on Ouse where a 25 minute thermal climb took him and his DG808 from 1,700' asl to 4,100' asl.  The other soaring pilots were Steve Ogden in his Discus who had 56 minutes flying locally, with a best  climb to 4,200'asl, and Toby Wilson with one of the day's 6 First Flight pupils in the DG500, who found a weak thermal that Toby used to maintain their height for a while and extend their flight time to 37 minutes.   The day's flying included 3 flights in the Falke, the one's undertaken by James Shaw resulting in his completion of Stages 2 & 3 of the Motor Glider Instructor Rating, so congratulations to James.
