Friday 20th.  A hot and humid, moderate SSE'ly flow brought a maximum temperature of 29,2C in Thirsk, but didn't do much  for soaring opportunities under an overcast sky with isolated ragged Cumulus underneath.  The day's 20 ATs and a self launch off runway 20 only led to 4 flights of 30 minutes or more, although the 2 seaters were busy with 10 First Flight pupils and Bruce Grain/Andrew Bedford flew the Falke  on an O/R to Kirton in Lindsey with a landing and later take off from Rufforth on the way back.  Thermal activity was weak, with average peak strength of 1-1.5 knots and maximum altitudes of 3,000-3,500' asl were achieved, with John Marsh in his DG303 having 58 minutes to top the endurance list.   Pete Crawley in  his ASH 31 MI had 51 minutes and Pete Goodchild/Resh Khodabocus had 38 minutes in the DG1000.  Martin Newbery's  33 minutes in his Ventus2ct on his first flight of the day was helped by  weak external convection, while the 30 minutes on his second was helped by strong internal combustion.
