Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th December 2024

Monday 9th. Storm Darragh had departed leaving a moderate NE'ly that brought in an overcast off the North Sea that was, however, high enough to allow flying to take place. This amounted to 3 flights in K21 KLW and 1 in Astir DSU, while the Falke had a couple of flights. Guy Hartland/Natalia Swaekaert found a weak thermal that extended their flight to 18 minutes while Austin Hartland bettered that with 20 minutes in the Astir, operations being off runway 02.
Tuesday 10th. The high pressure continued to bring in a cloudy, but now light to moderate NE'ly, the overcast again being high enough for flying to take place. However, this was limited to 3 flights in the Falke, Clive Swain having 2 solo flights of which one was an O/R to Doncaster and Guy Hartand and Fred, taking time off from his office duties, the other.
Wednesday 11th. The centre of the high had drifted further south resulting in the NE'ly becoming light, but still accompanied by overcast skies, the cloud being a little lower than on previous days. The day's flying comprised 3 flights in K21 KLW and 3 in the Falke, while the Pawnee had a trip to Bagby. KLW's flights were all via low tows due to the lower cloud base, but some weak thermal allowed Guy Hartland/Sue Aherne to have 20 minutes flying time, while Polly Whitehead had 10 minutes solo. John Carter took the final launch for an 8 minute solo flight. Bruce Grain/Andrew Bedford had 2 of the flights in the Falke with Clive Swain flying the other one solo.
