Tuesday 3rd.  A moderate and at times moderate to fresh WSW'ly blew all day following the passage of a cold front that crossed the area from 0600-0900 hrs, the following airmass containing a few showers.   It was a winching day, with 14 launches off runway 24, flying extending into the evening, the last flight landing at 2100 hrs.  Hill, and for some thermal and wave lift, resulted in 8 flights of over 30 minutes with 6 of these over an hour, the 2 private owners who launched, Malcolm Guard in his 15m Vega and Pat Fowler in his Astir CS,  having 5:09 and 4:13 respectively. Malcolm and Pat both stayed local, with Malcolm climbing to 4,800' asl over  the site.  James Shaw, first with Logan Briggs and then with fellow instructor Andreas Rieder, flew the DG1000 to Tontine and back via the forward ridge, as well flying the main W'ly ridge to its northernmost end beyond Boltby, the flights mainly operating between 600' and 1100' QFE but with low points of 300' QFE.  Later, Toby Wilson in K21 KLW had a 1:02 flight with Ruben Johnson flying the main W'ly ridge to beyond Boltby, and off the last flight of the day, with James Horton, had 1:02 soaring the home bowl and slowly climbing to 1,100' QFE.
