In line with present government advice around non-essential travel and social distancing, the Yorkshire Gliding Club has taken the decision to temporarily close its airfield and facilities to members of the public.

This decision was not taken lightly. The safety and well-being of both visitors to our site, and of our members is always our primary concern - and in these unprecedented times we felt that this was an appropriate measure.

We will continue to monitor the situation and official advice and will update this page as the situation develops.

If you have booked a flight with us over the coming weeks, regretfully, it will not be able to go ahead until facilities are fully re-opened. Please contact us to re-book, and we appreciate your understanding that we do not at present know when we will be able to open the airfield to visitors again.

Your purchased vouchers will not expire. Any that cannot be redeemed in their validity period due to the Corvid-19 pandemic will be extended - please mention this when calling to book your slot. We aim to ensure that everyone who has bought, or buys a voucher will be able to take their flight with us when it is safe to do so.

In the meantime, we appreciate your support. We will continue to issue vouchers (which again, we will extend the expiry period for) so that people can have something to look forward to in the near future, and we look forward to seeing you at Sutton Bank very soon. If you would like to purchase a voucher for yourself or a friend or family member, you can do so here.

We have been flying as the Yorkshire Gliding Club from Sutton Bank since 1934, and we promise we will get back in the air again as soon as possible.

Together, we will get through this.

Please stay safe.
