Saturday 30th.  An Atlantic depression brought low cloud and rain to Sutton mid afternoon, but not before 11 ATs  had been flown off runway 20, 4 of  these for First Flight pupils.  The increasing cloud cover and light to moderate SSE'ly wind meant there were no soaring opportunities, so the day's flight times ranged from 13-23 minutes.  Fred Brown and one of the day's First Flight pupils had 23 minutes off a 2,500' tow while Peter Goodchild and another First Flight pupil had 13 minutes off the last flight of the day.  John Forrester was the only pilot to fly solo, having 18 minutes in Astir DPO.  Later, with the hill shrouded in cloud and rain, members assembled inside for a much more bright and breezy social affair, a tapas, quiz and music evening which raised £340 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, with thanks for those members who displayed their culinary, intellectual and musical skills for the benefit of attendees.

This blog describes a snippet of life at the Yorkshire Gliding Club. Why not take a flight and try it yourself, or we can teach you to fly as a full club member.
